The Olympus power supply is expensive. However supplies exist for other makes of camera, often about half the price of the Olympus. E.g. one my Fuji. Get your camera shop to demonstrate the supply with your camera.
On occasion the camera can get confused and report that the card's not been formatted, when in fact the card is fine.
If this happens, Chris Hornby says 'try taking a picture using the software whilst the camera is connected to the computer, hey presto your pics will appear. I don't why this is so, there is no logical reason...'
