Acorn or Wintel?

Introduction

This is a section of essay (some will consider them to be rants) on the subject of computers and computing.

Since 4QD use a network of RiscOS computers, my meanderings will be of most interest to other RiscOS users. However the thoughts I have must apply equally to other OS and maybe non RiscOS users will also find the reading here enjoyable.

• Risc OS or Wintel. Is there a choice?
  Acorns do not use Pentiums but a Risc Processor. They do not run MicroSoft. Read about the differences.
• Email and Newsreader programs
  My thoughts on News and Email programs. Of particular interest to Argonet users and those interested in Messenger and Pluto.
• Computer Manuals
  What is wrong with modern manuals and why.
• Mailing Lists
  A page I wrote mainly for would-be subscribers to the mailing lists which we run from 4QD. But, since most lists operate in the same way, others may find it useful too.
