4QD use RISC OS computers.
We are sure that we could not run our business as enonomically or as efficiently without RISC OS. Nor would it be so enjoyable!
We therefore dedicate part of our site to helping to promote RISC OS and to helping other RISC OS users.

Mailing Lists and their 'Home pages'
We host several mailing lists for RISC OS. As support for this we have pages dedicated to supporting these lists:
- Calligraph. A page for users of Calligraph Printers
- PipeDream. A page for users of this remarkable spreadsheet / word processor / database package.
- Digital Photography as it interests users of RISC OS.
- StrongEd.
The Software we use at 4QD
Some of the software we use generally gets very heavy usage. Over the course of time I hope to write introductions to some of it. This is a list of some of the packages we use. More information is available on lots of it, available via the links. Some of the information is, or will be, on this site.
- PipeDream a general purpose word processor/spreadsheet/database which is programable and is used to run our entire sales system.
- !Vector
All the drawings, circuit diagrams, printed circuit layouts etc. are drawn with !Vector. Maybe if there's interest we'll tell you how we do it, but for the moment the component and other libraries we use for circuits, printed circuit boards and other diagrams are available via the link.
- !Pluto. An email, news and text database program.
- !Ovation Pro from Dave Pilling Software - probably the best DTP program available unless you pay about ten times the price and use a Mac.
- !StrongEd - a general purpose file, text and program editor.
- !ArcFax from Dave Pilling Software does all of our faxing and interlinks automatically with PipeDream.
- !Prophet - probably the best accounting package of its type available on any computer. It started life under RISC OS and is now being re-written for Windoze computers. See Accounts.com Ltd. web site.
- !Organizer.
This clever diary/calendar/address book/note book looks on screen just like a FiloFax organiser. It even has tabs just like the index tabs on a FiloFax. It's so simple an idea that it's amazing nobody did it before. It's still being very actively supported and at a mere £10.00 it's unbelievably good value. See the website of Chris Morison, the author.
- !Transfer also from Apricote Studios. But not a commercial program.
- !Blinds from Quantum Software.
- !Keystroke also from Quantum Software.
- !SparkFS from Dave Pilling Software
- !HTML3
- !Voyager
- !XChars
- !Makro - a programmable keyboard macro inserter.
- !SiteMatch
- !JunkMail
- !BlackHole
- !Family
